{"id":3332,"date":"2018-08-12T10:48:47","date_gmt":"2018-08-12T14:48:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.respectmyplanet.org\/publications\/?p=3332"},"modified":"2026-01-16T16:20:42","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T21:20:42","slug":"quarterly-usa-h2-report-becomes-quarterly-usa-canada-h2-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.respectmyplanet.org\/publications\/fuel-cells\/quarterly-usa-h2-report-becomes-quarterly-usa-canada-h2-report","title":{"rendered":"Quarterly USA H2 Report Becomes Quarterly USA &#038; Canada H2 Report"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>RMP is based near Detroit, Michigan.&nbsp; &nbsp;The Detroit River separates the City of Detroit &amp; the City of Windsor.&nbsp; The Ambassador Bridge connects the two cities and soon the <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wdbridge.com\/en\/project-overview-gordie-howe-international-bridge-project\" target=\"_blank\">Gordy Howe International Bridge<\/a>, a once in a generation undertaking, will be a second major bridge connecting the two cities.&nbsp; Windsor is my personal connection to Canada and has been woven into the fabric of my life since I was a child.&nbsp; I can remember <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/Archives\/1984\/10\/02\/Queen-Elizabeth-II-greeted-throngs-of-cheering-well-wishers-in\/8409465537600\/\" target=\"_blank\">seeing Ronald Reagan at Cobo Hall in the morning &amp; crossing the bridge to Windsor and seeing Queen Elizabeth in Windsor on the very same day<\/a>.&nbsp; &nbsp;The USA &amp; Canada border is vast and the friendship &amp; commerce all along the USA &amp; Canada border provides many folks from Washington to New York their own personal connections to our neighbor to the north.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Canada is also a leader in Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology.&nbsp; Ballard Power is<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p> headquartered in Vancouver, Canada and is a leading global provider of innovative clean energy &amp; fuel cell solutions.&nbsp; Hydrogenics is headquartered in Mississauga, Canada is a developer and manufacturer of hydrogen generation and fuel cell products based on water electrolysis and proton exchange membrane technology.&nbsp; &nbsp;In fact, in last quarter&#8217;s USA H2 infrastructure report, I mentioned the new Stratos H2 Refueling Station (HRS) which uses 100% renewable hydrogen made from water which is located, ironically, in Ontario, California.&nbsp; <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Ontario,+Canada\/@48.9552626,-93.7065152,5z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x4cce05b25f5113af:0x70f8425629621e09!8m2!3d51.253775!4d-85.323214\" target=\"_blank\">Ontario<\/a> is also the name of the Canadian province where the City of Windsor is located.&nbsp; &nbsp;Hydrogenics HyStat technology used at the Stratos HRS in Ontario, California allows us to make pure H2 from water for fast refueling of trucks, cars, &amp; busses right now!&nbsp; There is no other zero emission tech that allows vehicles to do this and Canada is an integral part of the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1442\" height=\"818\" src=\"https:\/\/www.respectmyplanet.org\/publications\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Screenshot-2018-08-12-10.40.05.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6831\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.respectmyplanet.org\/publications\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Screenshot-2018-08-12-10.40.05.jpg 1442w, https:\/\/www.respectmyplanet.org\/publications\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Screenshot-2018-08-12-10.40.05-300x170.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.respectmyplanet.org\/publications\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Screenshot-2018-08-12-10.40.05-1024x581.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.respectmyplanet.org\/publications\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Screenshot-2018-08-12-10.40.05-768x436.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1442px) 100vw, 1442px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Oliver Bishop, general manager of hydrogen at Shell, manipulates a hydrogen refuelling station in Vancouver while a photographer takes a photo during the station&#8217;s launch. (Rafferty Baker\/CBC)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On June 15, 2018 <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/british-columbia\/hydrogen-fuel-pump-opens-in-vancouver-1.4709016\" target=\"_blank\">the first public HRS opened in Vancouver, Canada<\/a> in its Marpole neighborhood (or as they say in Canada &#8220;neighbourhood&#8221;).&nbsp; Shell has plans to open two more stations in Vancouver to accompany this first station.&nbsp; This kind of news should be covered in RMP&#8217;s quarterly report and that&#8217;s why the&nbsp;USA Quarterly H2 Infrastructure Update will now becomes the&nbsp;<strong>USA &amp; Canada Quarterly H2 Infrastructure Update&nbsp;<\/strong>starting in Q3 of 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hydrogen fuel cell community is small and collaborations are key to develop this industry into a strong &amp; sustainable part of our energy economy.&nbsp; Collaborations between companies, governments, and communities are important to fostering a strong development of the hydrogen fuel cell economy.&nbsp; &nbsp;Let this new report name be a metaphor for how important it is to recognize collaborators &amp; friends like the USA &amp; Canada in our reporting &amp; in our actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RMP will begin working to modify our USA H2 map of HRS locations to include new locations in Canada as we also work to obtain latitude &amp; longitude information for other countries like China.&nbsp; &nbsp;Furthermore, when Mexico begins to deploy fuel cell technology this report may again change names to become the North American Quarterly H2 Infrastructure Update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I hope you&#8217;ll come back to check out our Q3 report in less than a couple months that will cover updates in the USA &amp;
