According to reporting from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baytoday.ca\/local-news\/a-250-million-plan-could-bring-graphite-mining-back-to-kearney-company-says-12202819?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">BayToday<\/a>, Global Battery Materials believes the long-idled site could become the continent\u2019s first active source of battery-grade graphite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That matters because graphite is one of the most essential \u2014 and often overlooked \u2014 materials used in lithium-ion batteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While public attention often focuses on lithium, nickel, and cobalt, graphite is the dominant material used in battery anodes. In many lithium-ion battery chemistries, graphite represents more than 95% of the anode material by mass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, much of the world\u2019s battery-grade graphite processing capacity remains concentrated in China.
