There’s a paradox related to oil pipeline protests: they will not stop nor even slow down the use of oil. Only ridding our society of internal combustion engines will end the use of oil. Internal combustion engines are the reason we have oil pipelines and getting rid of them is the only way to get rid of oil pipelines.
It looks like Jordan Development’s Word Of Faith 16-27 Niagaran oil well is going to be a long term producer based on the flare stack shown in this post’s video. Check it out and stay tuned for RMP’s November MOGM where we will explain what Southfield resident’s can expect to happen at this location as Jordan Development puts in the necessary infrastructure to produce. The November MOGM will be published November 30, 2016 and we will have more pictures of the well along with our explanation of what will most likely happen next.
In the October 2016 MOGM we look again at the issue of putting Antrim Shale Wells on a vacuum system. We look at the numbers, like always, and we end with some final thoughts on how the word “fracking” has ironically set back environmental protection.
At this point in October of 2016, all the reporting through the first six months of 2016 is complete. RMP has again downloaded, parsed, and analyzed the Michigan hydrocarbon production data for the Michigan Basin. Click through to check out our reporting and graphical analysis of Michigan Basin production. Michigan is playing a leading role in Carbon Capture & Sequestration (#CCS). Developing solar & wind as renewable energy resources is very important, but there is a reality that fossil fuels will provide a majority percentage of global energy for many decades to come even if every single world citizen & legislator focused on eliminating coal & oil. These are facts. Check out RMP’s report on why #CCS is so important, how Michigan is playing a leading role in #CCS, and check out RMP’s exclusive new map of Carbon Dioxide sequestration wells. Join RMP to learn about the energy issues that matter most.
Click here to read respectmyplanet.org’s September 2016 – Michigan Oil & Gas Monthly magazine. Each month RMP keeps our readers in the Michigan Basin up to date on oil & gas news and activity. RMP is a Michigan based 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the responsible migration away from crude oil as an energy source and the advancement of fuel cell electric vehicles. We do what we do because we believe freshwater is world’s most valuable natural resource and there is no need to threaten water to make energy.
Michigan oil & gas activity gets busy in August of 2016. August has more applications for new wells than all seven previous months of 2016 combined. We have an applications for Carbon Dioxide Sequestration, High Volume Hydraulic Fracturing (HVHF), as well as applications to explore the Trenton Group in Lenawee & Monroe Counties. The HVHF well takes us down memory lane and we examine why the Integrated Assessment of HVHF published by the University of Michigan’s Graham Sustainability Institute is a fundamentally flawed report with flawed timing. Click through to read all about it.
This month a group calling themselves the MICATS staged a protest at Attorney General Bill Schuette’s home in Midland, Michigan. The Detroit News has a story here.
For the record, I have never supported extremist groups or individuals like those in MICATS and neither has respectmyplanet.org. I don’t know them, affiliate with them, or in any way condone what they did. RMP supports as part of our stated mission the migration away from oil as an energy source. RMP supports ending oil pipelines that traverse our (more…)
In this month’s MOGM, RMP covers the dearth of oil & gas activity in Michigan and the bankruptcies precipitated by the collapse of the industry at large. We also talk about finances and economics of the Hydrogen Economy and how Michigan and the rest of the world can prosper by supporting Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles. For FCEVs, the future is bright & clean. For crude oil, the buzzards are circling.
In May 2016, the big news is the Chapter 11 bankruptcy filings of Linn Energy and Breitburn Energy Partners. Both companies are top 5 producers in Michigan with Linn coming in as the #3 producer and Breitburn coming in as the #5 producer. RMP will be watching to see how these bankruptcies impact Michigan oil & gas operations.
